THE AUDITORIUM OF THE KARL-FRANZENS UNIVERSITY OF GRAZ

November 11, 2026

The auditorium is located in the main building of the Karl-Franzens University of Graz, which was constructed by the Viennese architect Karl Stattler and completed in 1895. The auditorium is the university’s largest room and can accommodate up to 600 people. It serves as a gathering place, but also hosts graduation ceremonies, doctoral conferrals, academic honors, concerts, and numerous celebrations.

The auditorium, which is 25 meters long, just under 14 meters wide, and 12 meters high, conveys a late-Historicist aesthetic on the one hand, while on the other, the elegant gold-and-white tones of the walls foreshadow the fin de siècle.
