Jana Lasser ist Professorin für Data Analysis an der Universität Graz, wo sie die Forschungsgruppe für Complex Social & Computational Systems am IDea_Lab leitet. Sie erforscht emergente Phänomene in komplexen sozialen Systemen, wobei sie Methoden des machine learning, data science, natural language processing und der computergestützten und statistischen Modellierung einsetzt. Zu ihren aktuellen Forschungsinteressen gehören die Wirksamkeit von Counter-Speech-Strategien, die Verbreitung von Misinformation auf Social-Media-Plattformen und die Auswirkungen von Social-Media-Empfehlungsalgorithmen auf die Gesellschaft.

Jana Lasser is Professor of Data Analysis at the University of Graz, where she heads the research group for Complex Social & Computational Systems at IDea_Lab.
She investigates emergent phenomena in complex social systems using methods of machine learning, data science, natural language processing and computational and statistical modeling.
Her current research interests include the effectiveness of counter-speech strategies, the spread of misinformation on social media platforms and the impact of social media recommendation algorithms on society.
